UPDATE: House Of Nazareth Executive Director Resigns

The Executive Director of the House of Nazareth has resigned.

Jean Dube says when he started at the 105 bed shelter on Albert Street in 2019, he thought he would only be there six months, “But here we are two years later. It’s about doing what is best for the homeless people and I’ve reached that stage where it is time to pass the torch for the betterment for the continuation of our plan.”

He told us there just comes a time in life and work, when you need to step back, look at where you are at, and what is left to be done, “Going forward with the wraparound services, helping the most vulnerable with mental health and addiction services, we need to have someone that has those qualifications with mental health and addictions and a good knowledge of homelessness.”

Dube submitted his resignation to the Board of Directors with six months notice.

His last day is June 30th.

“I’m grateful for what I’ve learned and what we have been able to do. I have a better understanding of homeless and what they are going through and what needs to be done. I have other projects, and I’ll have a bit more time for my family which is important to me,” Dube says.

A search for a new Executive Director is expected to begin next week.

Dube says “We did a job description which will be coming out in another couple of days. We will be actively recruiting in New Brunswick and and other provinces in Canada to get the best fit for the House of Nazareth and the homeless population in Greater Moncton.”
