Hopewell Rocks Expects To See Thousands Of Chinese Visitors This Season

After a record year at Hopewell Rocks last season, the well know tourist attraction is ready for another busy year.

Property Manager Noel Hamann says they are expecting a lot of Chinese visitors this year.

They are working with Destination Canada this year, that promotes Canada abroad for the Canada Chinese year of tourism.

“A special agreement has been signed between Canada and China, and we are expecting a large number of Chinese visitors to visit Canada as a whole. We hope and expect that in the Atlantic provinces and at the Hopewell Rocks that we will see some of those guests,”Hamann says.

Hamann says those guests are expected to come over the next two years,”They’re estimating over ten and a half million people, so if we saw, in this year, around one per cent of that, it would be about 50,000.”

Preparations are currently underway to get ready for this influx of visitors.

“We’re trying to prepare by having payment systems available that our Chinese guests will be familiar with, and we have a brochure in Mandarin. So we are very excited about the opportunity,” Hamann says.
