Homicide Investigation Underway In Elsipogtog

New Brunswick RCMP’s Major Crime Unit is investigating the death of a man in Elsipogtog First Nation as a homicide.

Police were called to a home on Main Street for a fight shortly after 3 p.m. on Friday.

A 24-year-old man from the community was found in medical distress and he appeared to have suffered stab wounds.

RCMP officers administered first aid until ANB paramedics arrived.

The man was taken to hospital and he later died from his injuries.

Police say an individual from Elsipogtog First Nation was arrested on scene without incident and later released.

An autopsy has been scheduled to help determine the man’s exact cause of death.
