Homeowner assaulted during attempted break-in: police

Mounties are investigating an attempted break-in and assault in the community of St. George.

Officers were called to an attempted break-and-enter on Campbell Road around 4:30 a.m. on July 24.

In a news release on Tuesday, police said a group of people were trying to break into a garage when they were interrupted by a homeowner.

Police said the suspects assaulted the homeowner and fled the scene before officers arrived.

The victim received minor injuries during the incident, according to the RCMP release.

No arrests have been made and investigators are still trying to track down those responsible.

Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area or has surveillance footage from the time of the incident is asked to call St. George RCMP at 506-755-1130 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
