Historic Retailer In NS Closing

A long-time retail fixture in Amherst, Nova Scotia is closing.

The family-owned Dayle’s Department Store, formerly known as Margolian’s, has been in business since 1906 but will close its doors early next year.

Rising operational costs and changing shopping habits are being cited as the reasons for shutting down.

A close-out sale will begin next month.

The family made a similar decision in 2011 when it closed the historic Margolian’s store in Truro.
