Reopening NB’s Borders Still Too Risky – Higgs

Premier Blaine Higgs says it’s a major achievement in New Brunswick to have no new COVID-19 cases in 16 days and all cases have recovered.

Higgs says we’ve won the battle but haven’t won the war and he notes how the risk remains at our borders.

“We will be strenghtening control around our borders as necessary to minimize the risk for citizens of this province,” he says.

Meantime, Higgs says he appreciates the concerns from the farming and fishing industries about not being able to bring in temporary foreign workers.

But he has no intention of lifting the ban.

Higgs says it’s too risky to allow temporary foreign workers to enter the province right now.

He wants unemployed New Brunswickers and students to fill those jobs.

A virtual job matching platform has been launched online called JobMatchNB.
