The Former Conservative Finance Minister says their government put in place legislation to prevent political parties from overpromising and digging themselves into a financial hole.
Blaine Higgs says that is what the Liberals have done and why they are looking at a possible increase in the HST.
He adds now we’re up against another election that has cost this province too much money.
He says the government he was a part of did increase personal income tax but didn’t need to do both but he fears the Liberals will have to do both because of the new spending.
Higgs says the Alward government was on a methodical program achieving success reducing the deficit.
