Weight loss chain Herbal Magic closed all Central and Eastern Canadian locations, including their store in Moncton.
Those stores are now in bankruptcy, under trustee Pricewaterhousecoopers.
The company had approximately 150 locations across Canada, of that number, 41 will remain in operation in Western Canada under a secured lender.
Customers scheduled to weigh in on Friday found the locations in Central and Eastern Canada abruptly closed with short messages posted on the door.
It is unclear if customers who prepaid will get their money back.
Chief Financial Officer Philip Quirk blamed today’s changing weight-loss market for the closure.
