Hennessey Road To Undergo Reconstruction

A major artery in northeast Moncton is being reconstructed this year at a cost of roughly $5 million.

Watermain and sewer renewal work is also planned for Hennessey Road which links Elmwood and McLaughlin Drives.

Moncton acting director of design and construction Rene Lagace notes how this kind of work can often stir up a rat’s nest – literally.

“We will put out these baits as part of our construction sequence to a third-party – a pest control company – and we react if we see any evidence of rodents in these traps.”

City councillor Bryan Butler expressed concern about rodents during road work.

Meantime, a new multi-purpose trail will be built on the south side of Hennessey Road which will narrow the roadway.

New traffic lights will also be installed at the intersection of Hennessey and McLaughlin.

City Council has chosen Fram Enterprises as the contractor which was the lowest bidder of the eight tenders submitted.
