Heavy rain possible later this week in N.B.

We could be in for quite a bit of rain later this week, according to forecasters at Environment Canada.

A special weather statement has been issued for most of New Brunswick from Wednesday night until Friday.

Meteorologists are tracking a “slow-moving and somewhat disorganized” weather system that is expected to arrive Wednesday night.

“While the rain could be intermittent through this period, complicating matters is that tropical moisture from the remnants of Beryl is expected to feed into this system,” said the statement.

“This could potentially enhance rainfall amounts and increase the risk of heavy rainfall rates.”

Forecasters said similar past events have brought heavy downpours and pooling of water, as well as localized flooding in low-lying areas.

They added that rainfall warnings may be required for areas most at risk of heavy rain.
