Heavy Downpours Create Localized Flooding In Metro Moncton

Storm sewers in parts of Metro Moncton were overwhelmed this afternoon by heavy downpours.

The Town of Riverview seemed to get hit the worst with flooding issues reported in Gunningsville, Point Park and West Riverview.

Spokesperson Meghan Walsh says too much rain fell too quickly and overwhelmed the storm drains.

A portion of Hillsborough Road was closed and traffic had to be rerouted until the water receded.

Moncton public works have not reported any problems.

Dieppe public works have say there has been some water on the streets but no major issues.

If you are on the streets of Metro this afternoon, slow down and watch out for pooling of water especially during downpours.
