It’s projected the provincial government will save over $9 million a year with privatising the management of hospital food, cleaning and patient transportation. That word coming from Provincial Health Minister Victor Boudreau who adds $7.9 million of that at least has been guaranteed by Sodexo, the French multinational corporation.
He rejects the suggestion patient care will suffer, saying patients will have more of a say in their food and that should result in less wastage.
Boudreau says the money saved will be reinvested to make health care in the province better.
