A 44‑year‑old man from Hampton has been arrested in a human‑trafficking case.
Police said he was taken into custody on January 16 as part of an investigation involving a few New Brunswick communities.
The arrest followed an investigation that began in November 2025 into reports that multiple adult women were being trafficked in Moncton, Saint John and Hampton.
The RCMP said the man appeared in Saint John provincial court the same day he was arrested.
He is charged with two counts of sexual assault, two counts of uttering threats, human trafficking, assault, assault causing bodily harm, sexual assault with a weapon and administering a noxious thing.
Police noted that the man was held in custody for a bail hearing and was later released on conditions set by the court.
The RCMP also stated that a publication ban prevents them from identifying him.
Anyone with information about the investigation or potential human‑trafficking activity is encouraged by the RCMP to contact their local detachment or call 911 in an emergency.
