The United Way of Greater Moncton is one of the groups supporting a new pilot project being rolled out in Moncton.
The initiative is expected to help reduce delays in the family court system.
Executive director Debbie McInnis says court matters can be stressful for anyone but custody of children or support can be an added concern.
“Being able to speed cases up from months to weeks or days will be such a huge relief for so many families,” she noted.
The Gallant government recently announced $650,000 for the new system in Moncton which has already proven to be successful in Saint John.
The funding will be used for six new positions including lawyers and court officers for family cases involving custody, access or support payments.
