Green Party Holds AGM In Saint John

Deceptive hiring practices, pensions, healthcare, post-secondary education and waste management.

Those are just some of the policy proposals being considered at the Green Party of New Brunswick’s AGM in Saint John this weekend.

Leader David Coon tells us the proposals are submitted by party members and riding associations throughout the year.

“We’ve got quite a robust policy process that goes on,” says Coon, “and so it’s designed to engage as many members as possible through the year and then culminate in policy proposals that are brought forward to the annual meeting.”

Coon says developing an aggressive and ambitious waste management policy stands out to him because many New Brunswickers are fed up with the current strategy.

“The inadequate state of recycling, for example,” he says, “and then people personally and their families wanting to do more and just feeling like the infrastructure is not there to ensure they can.”

Other proposals include topics such as First Nations and Indigenous peoples, gender identity, and seasonal workers.
