Moncton City council is considering a ban on plastic bags.
A survey was conducted by the Greater Moncton Area with Eco360 South-East.
Both residents and businesses were consulted and nearly all respondents said they are concerned.
Survey found that although 78 per cent of residents agree with paying a fee for plastic bags, over 50 per cent offer only plastic bags and virtually none are charging.
Businesses worry about cost of offering sustainable alternatives.
Each Council will review the survey results and look at adopting a by-law.
