Grant Helps Boost Counselling For At-Risk Youth In Metro Moncton

The Medavie Health Foundation has provided a $40,000 grant to support the Atlantic Wellness Community Centre serving Metro Moncton.

The centre in Riverview offers free and timely mental health services for young people between the ages of 12 and 21.

Executive director Lesley Smyth says the grassroots operations is overjoyed to receive the grant.

“We’ve relied solely on private donations and our fundraising events. So this is a turning point for our organization for sure,” she notes.

Smyth says the grant will help the centre expand its mental health counselling services including hiring another full-time therapist for young people.
