School children in grades kindergarten through grade 5 are getting an opportunity to learn more about aviation.
Spokesperson for the Greater Moncton International Airport Julie Pondant says they are encouraging classrooms to come and see them for a guided tour, “We’re going to be sending a letter to the school districts to be able to explain to them a bit more what we’re doing and why we’re doing it. When they come on their scheduled day, then they’ll have a passport that they can write in, while they learn more about the airport.”
During the tours, students will learn more about the operations of the airport and about the number of travellers from around the world the facility sees each year. Pondant says there is a lot of curiosity about aviation, “It’s something that people have a lot of interest in typically, and some younger people want to know more about it. So we decided to open up our tours to school kids.”
Airport President and CEO Bernard Leblanc CEO says they are our future travellers. He wants the children to know the airport as more than just a place where airplanes land and take off.
The Airport serves about 650, 000 passengers annually.
