Georges Dumont Hospital Suspends Patient Visits Indefinitely Because Of Flu

Patient visits are suspended at Georges Dumont Hospital until further notice.

Management made the decision because a number of patients and staff were experiencing flu symptoms.

Visits from the public have been suspended for the entire facility, and officials hope this will help prevent the spread of the virus.

Spokesperson Luc Foulem says certain patients like seniors with pulmonary issues are particularly vulnerable to the flu.

“Those patients are more at risk and whenever they get afflicted with the influenza virus it compounds their health situations,” says Foulem. “It makes it more precarious for them.”

Foulem says there are special provisions in place to account for visits to Obstetrics, Pediatrics, and ICU as well as Palliative Care services.

Family members of those patients are being asked to contact the hospital for further details at 506-862-4000.

Visitors to those units are being asked to take extra precautions by washing their hands, and not coming in at all if they are feeling unwell.
