Gender Neutral Bathrooms Introduced At Moncton School

A Moncton area High School is making a splash with new gender neutral bathrooms.

Social Worker France Breault has worked with the LGBTQ community at Ecole L’Odyssée.

She explains the goal of adding a transgender icon to the bathroom signage, because some people might not be comfortable in using a bathroom with other people. They wanted to make sure there was a place for them to feel safe.

Breault says the two bathrooms accommmodate one person at a time, and are available for anyone to use.

They hope this will encourage other schools, buildings and offices around Moncton to be more openly welcoming of the LGBTQ community.
