Gallant Talks About Exporting Alberta Natural Gas From Saint John

Premier Brian Gallant says businesspeople in Alberta are well aware and enthused about the geographical advantage Saint John has in exporting to emerging markets around the world.

That message was delivered to the Atlantic Canada and Northeast U.S. Energy Summit that’s being held in the city. Gallant says he also floated the idea of exporting Alberta natural gas out of Saint John and Trans Canada was curious about the proposition.

Gallant is optimistic the Energy East pipeline will go ahead in spite of opposition in Quebec and he hopes it will force a discussion about a long overdue national energy policy.

Calling it the elephant in the room, Gallant says fracking did not come up during his Alberta trip but he does concede there is a difference of opinion when it comes to shale gas.
