The Gallant government has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Universite de Moncton which is designed to provide stable tuition and multi-year funding for the institution.
An additional $15 million dollars will be provided over four years which is in addition to existing operational funding.
President and vice-chancellor Raymond Theberge is calling the MOU “a step in the right direction”.
As part of the agreement, tuition increases will be capped at two percent per year for the duration of a degree.
Funding will also be available for pilot projects to boost enrolment and to allow for more research and development opportunities.
Similar agreements have also been reached with the University of New Brunswick and Mount Allison University while discussions are ongoing with St. Thomas University.
