The Gallant government intends to develop a 10-year education plan which includes all stages of learning.
Premier Brian Gallant says New Brunswick has some of the lowest literacy rates in the country and that must change.
In a year-end interview, Gallant says the government will be reaching out to stakeholders to formulate the education plan “which will have a very exhaustive and inclusive engagement process with parents, teachers, administrators, business people, community leaders to fully understand what are some of the things that we need to do to improve our system.”
The Liberals pledged to restore French immerson to Grade One and Gallant says he still intends to follow through with that promise.
He adds the province will take a holistic approach to learning which will span from early childhood through adulthood.
