Fundy Rose will not be moved

The Fundy Rose isn’t going anywhere.

The federal government had discussed moving the Digby-Saint John ferry to service the Magdalen Islands for part of 2024.

Federal Transport Minister Pablo Rodriguez says he made the decision that the Fundy Rose will remain on its current route.

West Nova MP Chris d’Entremont says people in his riding, especially the Digby-area, were very opposed to the potential move.

“The Minister has listened to the community, that this ferry is extremely important for the economy in Southwest Nova Scotia. They’re going to be leaving it in place, and people should be very happy,” said d’Entremont.

Officials from both Nova Scotia and New Brunswick had been speaking out against the relocation.
