Elmwood Cemetery Vandalism Prompts Fundraising Campaign

A woman has started a Go Fund Me campaign to raise money for repairs in Elmwood Cemetery after more than 200 monuments were vandalized.

Kim Sneath says her father’s remains are buried in the cemetery and she felt the need to help.

Although his monument wasn’t damaged, she says there were several nearby that were.

She later found out that this kind of damage is not uncommon.

“Vandals are constantly going in there, either just randomly damaging or they’re trying to steal something that they can salvage and sell.”

A family crypt was also damaged with vandals seeking the copper found in the roof.

Sneath believes if her father were alive he would have wanted to help out.

She hopes to raise $5,000 in the Go Fund Me campaign.

“No amount is too small for the Go Fund Me. There’s an ability to leave an anonymous donation if you like. Any amount will help, it all adds up.”
