Frye Festival Officially Kicks Off Today

Today is the official launch of the Frye Festival at Moncton City Hall.

Executive Director Danielle LeBlanc says this comes after several very successful events already this weekend.

She says tonight there’s a great literary trivia event called Brains On Tap.

“It’s a bilingual trivia, people can sign up either as a team, or as individuals, so if anyone out there is interested in participating they should just show up and we can assign them a team and they can test their literary knowledge,” says LeBlanc.

The event starts at 7:30 on the second floor of the Aberdeen Cultural Centre.

LeBlanc says with between 50 and 60 events this week there’s a great range of events, including the “Authors In Conversation” events.

She says they are great opportunities to get to know an author intimately.

“They’re one on one conversations with an author about his or her latest book and overall body of work,” says LeBlanc. “And it’s a really wonderful chance to be able to discover the person behind the book.”

LeBlanc says another great “must see” event is the Soirée Frye at the Capitol Theatre Friday evening.

She says it’s the best of what the Festival has to offer.

So a taste of the Festival, and readings by four writers, and musical performances by an Anglophone and a Francophone musician,” says LeBlanc. “In French we have “Tire le Coyote” who’s coming from Quebec, and we have Michaeul Feuerstack.”
