Fredericton Condo Complex Evacuated Due To Burst Pipe

A 20-unit condominium complex in Fredericton had to be evacuated on Tuesday after a burst pipe compromised its electrical and safety systems.

The water leak began shortly after noon Tuesday in the complex on Venus Court, according to the Canadian Red Cross.

Volunteers with the organization arranged emergency lodging for 16 people from seven units in the complex.

Others living in the complex made their own arrangements, such as staying with relatives or friends.

The Red Cross says it is hoped most residents can return home Wednesday once the leak and any water damage are repaired, and the electrical system can be inspected.
