Former Riverview Basketball Coach Gets Nine Years In Prison

Shawn Curtis Nickerson was sentenced to nine years in prison after pleading guilty to 31 child pornography offences and one count of sexual interference.

The 32-year-old was in Moncton provincial court on Friday for crimes that include making child pornography, possessing and accessing child pornography.

A former Riverview basketball coach, Nickerson secretly filmed players in the washroom and changeroom before posting the images online.

He has been added to the National Sex Offender Registry for the rest of his life and will also submit a DNA sample.

When released from prison, Nickerson will have strict conditions that stop him from contacting children or any of his victims.

Various police forces were involved in the investigation, including the New Brunswick RCMP’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit, the Codiac Regional RCMP and the RCMP National Child Exploitation Crime Centre.
