The Moncton Firefighters Historical Society presented a former fire chief with a Bravery Award.
Don MacFarlane was the former Moncton Volunteer Fire Department Captain.
On his way home from work in October 1974, he noticed a house on fire on Connaught St and saved the lives of 5 individuals.
Mr. MacFarlane was not recognized for his actions at the time, and the society asked he be honoured during Fire Prevention Week.
