Former Finance Minister On Budget

Former Conservative Finance Minister in the Alward government and Quispamsis M-L-A Blaine Higgs believes the Gallant Government has basically deferred a budget until next year because of the upcoming federal election and the desire not to hurt the federal Liberals electorally.

Higgs says the provincial budget doesn’t stir up a lot of pots and the inclusion of a 150 million dollar contingency fund, which increases the deficit to 477 million dollars, could end up misleading New Brunswickers down the road when it comes to the province’s true financial reality because part of that money could be used to lower the defict and make the government look good
