The Trans Canada Highway between Moncton and Fredericton will be closed to all traffic this evening as floodwaters rise along the St. John River.
The closure could last several days.
The detour will mean drivers travelling between Moncton and Fredericton would have to travel through Saint John via Route 1 at River Glade and Route 7 at Oromocto.
If you need to travel between the two cities, drivers are urged to do so before the closure.
The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure advises that Route 2 (Trans Canada Highway) between Moncton and Fredericton will be closed to all traffic this evening as water levels continue to rise.

This closure, which we anticipate would be necessary at approximately 7 p.m., will affect both the eastbound and westbound lanes.
