First-Year College Students More Optimistic About Future Career Than Graduating Students

If you believe a new report by BMO, students about to finish their post-secondary education are more pessimistic about finding a well-paying job than those just starting out.

The study shows 80-percent of first year students are confident their degree will lead to a job that enables them to buy a house compared to 68-percent of fourth or fifth year students. The first years think they’ll be able to buy a house in 7.6 years compared to 9.1 years for the graduating students.

On a more positive note, eight in ten graduating students believe their degree will lead to a job with strong career satisfaction.
