First North Atlantic Right Whale Spotted In Canadian Waters

The Fisheries and Oceans Air Surveillance Flight has been keeping a close eye on the waters, and they are reporting their first sighting of a North Atlantic right whale.

This is the first one of the season in Canadian waters.

The whale was spotted swimming east of Cape Breton Island.

They say fishing will continue but harvesters should remain on alert.

12 North Atlantic right whales died in the Gulf of St Lawrence between September and June of last year.
