First Necropsy On North Atlantic Right Whale Expected to Be Performed Today

A necropsy will be performed today on at least one of the North Atlantic right whales found dead in the Gulf of St. Lawrence.

Fisheries and Oceans Canada is working with a team of experts to determine the cause of death.

A plan is being implemented to tow the carcasses to a secluded beach near Norway, PEI.

Two were being towed to shore last night, and a third may also be brought there in the coming days.

It could take several days to complete a necropsy, and it may be several weeks before results are known.
