Another fire in a homeless encampment kept Moncton firefighters busy this morning.
Acting Platoon Chief Laurie Wood says they received reports of an explosion and sightings of thick black smoke behind a business on West Main at around 8am.
Wood says it was in an area that was difficult to access, but firefighters managed to keep it from spreading.
It’s believed a small propane cylinder may have caused the explosion, but the cause is still under investigation.
Wood says there was no one there when the fire broke out.
The contents of the encampment are destroyed.
Wood says these types of fires are becoming more frequent in the City of Moncton.
