Fire damages Riverview cannabis store

An early morning fire has caused significant damage to a cannabis store in Riverview.

Firefighters were called to The L’Nuk Lounge on Coverdale Road shortly after 5 a.m. Monday.

Deputy Chief Geoff Fisher said crews found flames coming from the front of a two-storey structure.

“Fire crews made a quick attack, extinguishing the fire and worked to manage hotspots and monitored for any signs of extension,” Fisher said in a news release.

There was significant smoke and fire damage on the main floor, with damage extending to the basement and second level.

A photo posted to social media by the business shows considerable damage to the building.

“We are at a loss for words,” said the Facebook post, which has been shared dozens of times.

Fisher said no one was found inside of the building and no injuries were reported as a result of the fire.

Ten firefighters and two chief officers from Riverview Fire & Rescue responded to the scene, with mutual aid from the Moncton Fire Department.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Firefighters were on the scene for about two-and-a-half hours.
