The cause of a house fire on Westminster Avenue in Riverview is under investigation.
Riverview Fire Chief Robin True says crews arrived at 1:20 p.m. and found heavy smoke along with flames at the back of the single storey home.
True says firefighters were able to knock down the exterior fire before moving indoors to put out the fire in the kitchen area.
No one was home at the time and no one was hurt.
True says the fire extensively damaged the back of the house and the main floor.
One resident has been displaced but was able to find a place to stay.
