UPD: Fire at high rise apartment in Moncton

A fire on the eighth floor of an apartment building left one person with injuries.

Moncton Fire responded to Cornhill Street in downtown Moncton at around 6:30 pm Saturday.

One person was rescued from the ten-storey building and taken to hospital.

Nineteen others were displaced.

There were 21 firefighters and a Platoon Chief on scene.

Dieppe and Riverview fire departments were on standby to assist with other calls in the city.

There’s fire, water and smoke damage to the building.

Ambulance New Brunswick, RCMP, NB Power, Codiac Transpo and Canadian Red Cross were also on scene.

The Canadian Red Cross is assisting those who have been displaced with lodging and other necessities.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause.
