The Sue Stultz and Moncton Firefighters Association Turkey Drive has entered the home stretch.
Today is the final day and this year’s turkey goal is 4,315.
As of 1:15pm today, the turkey tally was approximately 4,100.
Turkeys and cash have been dropped off by entire schools, businesses and residents who want to give back this Christmas.
Morris LeBlanc, a Shoppers Drug Mart district manager whose stores raised $5400 in cash and turkeys, says he was inspired by a young boy who made a contribution at their Elmwood Drive location.
“A young boy heard a conversation (with a cashier). He dug into his pocket and he found 35 cents. When it came to them (at the counter), he gave the cashier the 35 cents,” he notes.
LeBlanc says the campaign had a big impact on the boy who remembered how his family received a turkey last year.
Turkey Central will be open until 7 o’clock this evening and remember it’s “down back” at the St. George Boulevard fire station.

Friday the LAST day. What pleasure to see a child, coming into Turkey Central, with a big smile and a turkey. Makes all the work worth it
