Fifty For Fifty Run Exceeds Goal

Dr. Chris Hawkes lost his dad to Alzheimers in 2011, so he decided he wanted to raise money to help others who are also affected by the disease.

The Anaesthesiologist from Moncton Hospital ran 50 kilometres on a route near his Kingswood Park home in Moncton on Saturday.

He says it was great he received a lot of support, and the event happened at the perfect time, “I think it’s kind of fitting that it happened in November, where Remembrance Day is coming up and people are remembering things in their past. It says a lot about being able to remember things in the past.”

Dr. Hawkes far exceeded his $3000 goal, he raised around $6500.

He says the money will go towards the Alzheimers Society of New Brunswick, which is more of a support network, rather than the research side of things.
