Fifth Man Charged In Connection With Teen’s Death

A fifth man has been charged with the death of 18-year-old Joedin Leger of Moncton.

Eighteen-year-old Hayden Joseph James Leblanc appeared in Moncton Provincial Court on Thursday and was charged with first-degree murder. Leblanc is scheduled to return to court on July 25.

Four others from Greater Moncton are also facing first-degree murder charges in connection with Leger’s death.

Eighteen-year-old Riley Robert Sheldon Philips, 20-year-old Hunter Nash England, 23-year-old Jerek John England, and a fourth 18-year-old man who cannot be named as he was a minor at the time of the incident.

All five remain in custody. RCMP responded to reports of gunshots at a home on Logan Lane in April.

Leger was taken to hospital where he later died of his injuries.
