Federal funding for southeastern N.B. tourism

Federal funding to help boost the tourism industry in southeastern New Brunswick.

Nearly $783,000 was announced on Friday for six different projects in the region.

Funding will go to the Maritime Motorsport Hall of Fame, Firefly Forest, Poley Mountain and Stoke Resort.

The Town of Salisbury and the Village of Fundy-St. Martins will also get some of the funding.

The Maritime Motorsports Hall of Fame will receive $78,000 to expand its display area highlighting antique motors, tools and vehicles.

Firefly Forest will get a $76,000 repayable contribution to purchase equipment to upgrade and expand its wastewater infrastructure to support a growing camping and RV attraction.

Poley Mountain will receive $60,000, also repayable, to develop additional biking trails and purchase related equipment.

Stoke Resorts will get a $232,000 repayable contribution to build two multi-storey luxury cabins for tourists participating in activities offered on Poley Mountain and the Fundy Trail Parkway.

Salisbury will receive $244,000 to connect a trail to the outdoor amphitheatre in support of rural tourism.

Finally, Fundy-St. Martins will get $91,000 to engage expertise to coordinate the implementation of a variety of infrastructure projects.
