Fall Leaf Collection Pilot Begins This Week

Starting this week, we’re teaming up with Eco360 on a four-week pilot to see whether collecting leaves and yard waste separately can help us keep more out of the landfill and make better compost.

The good news: you don’t need to do anything differently. Keep your yard waste in its own bags, separate from your garbage and compost, and put it at the curb on your usual collection day. Paper yard waste bags are best if you have them, but clear green bags are still fine.

And if you’re taking part in our Leave the Leaves program, you can keep doing that too. Leaving some leaves in your yard is a simple way to provide food and shelter for pollinators. For the leaves you do choose to rake up, this pilot gives them a separate path to collection and composting.

One thing you might notice is a separate truck picking up leaves and yard waste. It may come by before or after your regular garbage pickup, so don’t worry if the timing looks a little different.

Thanks for helping us make the most of your fall raking! 🍂
