SUMMARY:Ballet Kelowna taqəš and Other Works
DESCRIPTION:The taqəš and Other Works program features a stunning lineup of signature works from Ballet Kelowna’s contemporary ballet repertoire. With Cameron sinkʷə Fraser-Monroe’s compelling taqəš Alysa Pires’ striking Vestiges\, and Guillaume Côté’s electrifying Le Carnaval des Animaux\, this high-energy program from Canada’s leading dancemakers promises to please a wide range of spectators. \nCameron sinkʷə Fraser-Monroe brings his classical ballet training\, knowledge of traditional Coast Salish\, Grass\, and Hoop Dance\, and experience as a contemporary dancer to taqəš [tawKESH]\, which means “to return something” in Ayajuthem\, the language belonging to the Homalco\, Klahoose\, K’omoks\, and Tla’amin Nations. Set to several songs by Polaris Prize-winning composer and singer Jeremy Dutcher\, taqəš follows the traditional story Raven Returns the Water\, centred around ῤoho (raven) and walθ (frog). \nNext\, award-winning choreographer Alysa Pires constructs a striking commentary on the search for true connection and meaning amid disorder. Set to the cinematic melodies of violinist Hilary Hahn and composer Hauschka\, Vestiges highlights the virtuosity of Pires’ bold and lively choreography. \nRounding out the program\, Guillaume Côté\, recently retired Principal Dancer and Chorographic Associate with The National Ballet of Canada\, applies his fresh\, artistic vision to a jovial rendition of Camille Saint-Saëns’ Le Carnaval des Animaux\, regarded as one of the French composer’s best-known works. Full of whimsical ornamentation\, this upbeat ensemble piece pushes the limits of contemporary ballet and promises to delight audiences with its exuberant energy of frolicking and fun. \nFounded in 2002\, Ballet Kelowna is the sole professional dance company in BC’s Interior. The organization is committed to its role as a leader in the region through encouraging\, promoting\, and developing Canadian dancers and choreographers. The company performs annually for more than 12\,000 audience members in Kelowna and on tour and provides unique dance training opportunities and outreach programs. Its Artistic Director and CEO\, Simone Orlando\, is an award-winning choreographer and former dancer with Ballet BC and The National Ballet of Canada. Under Orlando’s direction\, Ballet Kelowna was named the 2024 Artistic Company of the Year by the BC Live Performance Network (formerly the British Columbia Touring Council) and was an organizational recipient of the Lieutenant Governor’s Arts and Music Award in 2022.

SUMMARY:Mégan Brouillard : Chiendent
DESCRIPTION:Quackgrass (Chiendent in French) is subjective. A bad weed is something that grows where you don’t want it to. And what’s a weed to one person may not be a weed to another\, and what’s a weed somewhere may not be a weed somewhere else…it’s complicated! Megan’s show revolves around this notion\, and around the different perceptions of individuals. \nMégan Brouillard’s first one-woman-show is a biting\, authentic show\, in which Mégan presents herself\, unfiltered and always hilarious! \n*Performance in French.

SUMMARY:Napalm Death
DESCRIPTION:Napalm Death are credited as pioneers of the grindcore genre by\nincorporating elements of crust punk and death metal\, using a\nnoise-filled sound that uses heavily distorted\, down-tuned guitars\,\ngrinding overdrive bass\, high speed tempo\, blast beats\, and vocals\nwhich consist of incomprehensible growls\, or high-pitched shrieks\,\nextremely short songs\, fast tempos\, and sociopolitical lyrics. Even\nafter exerting an indelible influence on the entire world of heavy\nmusic for nearly 40 years\, there is still no band on Earth that sounds\nlike Napalm Death. Not just the pioneers\, but an enduring benchmark\nfor invention and fearlessness in heavy and experimental music of all\nkinds\, the Birmingham legends are still hurtling forward at full pelt. \nPrimitive Man is an American doom metal band from Denver\, Colorado\,\ncomposed of Ethan Lee McCarthy on vocals and guitar\, Jonathan Campos\non bass\, and Joe Linden on drums. They are known for an extremely\nharsh sound – combining funeral doom\, noise music\, and black metal\nelements – and blunt nihilistic outlook. \nDoors open at 7:00pm Show starts at 8:00pm

SUMMARY:Classic Albums Live Performs: Led Zeppelin – II
DESCRIPTION:Back by popular demand. If you have seen Classic Albums Live at the Riverview Arts Centre before\, you know this show will be one to remember. \nLed Zeppelin – II played: \nNote for Note / Cut for Cut \nLed Zeppelin II\, released in October 1969\, is the second studio album by Led Zeppelin\, produced by Jimmy Page with engineering by Eddie Kramer. SUMMARY:O Fortuna Presented by Tutta Musica Orchestra and the Greater Moncton Chorale
DESCRIPTION:Fate has always shaped life in Atlantic Canada. \nIt lives in the turning of the tides. In the risks taken by those who crossed open water toward an uncertain shore. In the quiet strength of people who endured hardship\, loss\, and isolation\, yet found a way forward. These stories\, passed down through generations\, form the emotional backbone of our region. \nO Fortuna is a powerful live performance that brings these stories to life through the combined force of symphony and choir\, anchored by the iconic music of Carmina Burana. Known for its thunderous intensity and haunting beauty\, this music captures the unpredictable nature of fate itself\, at times harsh\, at times tender\, always in motion. \nThrough music and visual storytelling\, audiences will be immersed in a journey through New Brunswick’s past. Stories of struggle and survival. Of separation and reunion. Of resilience in the face of forces beyond human control. Moments where everything hung in the balance\, and where fate quietly\, or suddenly\, changed the course of a life. \nPerformed by the full Tutta Musica Orchestra and the voices of the Greater Moncton Chorale\, this is more than a concert. It is a theatrical and emotional experience that connects the timeless power of orchestral and choral music with the lived history of our region. \nO Fortuna invites you to witness how fate\, music\, and human endurance intertwine\, and to discover how the echoes of the past still shape who we are today. \nPowerful. Immersive. Unforgettable. \n\n\n\n\nArtist’s official sitewww.tutta-musica.com/
