SUMMARY:Mégan Brouillard : Chiendent
DESCRIPTION:Quackgrass (Chiendent in French) is subjective. A bad weed is something that grows where you don’t want it to. And what’s a weed to one person may not be a weed to another\, and what’s a weed somewhere may not be a weed somewhere else…it’s complicated! Megan’s show revolves around this notion\, and around the different perceptions of individuals. \nMégan Brouillard’s first one-woman-show is a biting\, authentic show\, in which Mégan presents herself\, unfiltered and always hilarious! \n*Performance in French.

SUMMARY:Ballet Kelowna taqəš and Other Works
DESCRIPTION:The taqəš and Other Works program features a stunning lineup of signature works from Ballet Kelowna’s contemporary ballet repertoire. With Cameron sinkʷə Fraser-Monroe’s compelling taqəš Alysa Pires’ striking Vestiges\, and Guillaume Côté’s electrifying Le Carnaval des Animaux\, this high-energy program from Canada’s leading dancemakers promises to please a wide range of spectators. \nCameron sinkʷə Fraser-Monroe brings his classical ballet training\, knowledge of traditional Coast Salish\, Grass\, and Hoop Dance\, and experience as a contemporary dancer to taqəš [tawKESH]\, which means “to return something” in Ayajuthem\, the language belonging to the Homalco\, Klahoose\, K’omoks\, and Tla’amin Nations. Set to several songs by Polaris Prize-winning composer and singer Jeremy Dutcher\, taqəš follows the traditional story Raven Returns the Water\, centred around ῤoho (raven) and walθ (frog). \nNext\, award-winning choreographer Alysa Pires constructs a striking commentary on the search for true connection and meaning amid disorder. Set to the cinematic melodies of violinist Hilary Hahn and composer Hauschka\, Vestiges highlights the virtuosity of Pires’ bold and lively choreography. \nRounding out the program\, Guillaume Côté\, recently retired Principal Dancer and Chorographic Associate with The National Ballet of Canada\, applies his fresh\, artistic vision to a jovial rendition of Camille Saint-Saëns’ Le Carnaval des Animaux\, regarded as one of the French composer’s best-known works. Full of whimsical ornamentation\, this upbeat ensemble piece pushes the limits of contemporary ballet and promises to delight audiences with its exuberant energy of frolicking and fun. \nFounded in 2002\, Ballet Kelowna is the sole professional dance company in BC’s Interior. The organization is committed to its role as a leader in the region through encouraging\, promoting\, and developing Canadian dancers and choreographers. The company performs annually for more than 12\,000 audience members in Kelowna and on tour and provides unique dance training opportunities and outreach programs. Its Artistic Director and CEO\, Simone Orlando\, is an award-winning choreographer and former dancer with Ballet BC and The National Ballet of Canada. Under Orlando’s direction\, Ballet Kelowna was named the 2024 Artistic Company of the Year by the BC Live Performance Network (formerly the British Columbia Touring Council) and was an organizational recipient of the Lieutenant Governor’s Arts and Music Award in 2022.

SUMMARY:Caroline Savoie: Rom-Com en spectacle
DESCRIPTION:New Brunswick singer-songwriter Caroline Savoie’s career spans a decade\, and captures the facets of authentic love with emotional sincerity. Inspired by the romantic comedy classics that shaped her teens and twenties\, she unveils songs from her 4th album\, Rom-Com\, also her first experience as a producer. \nBoth a great romantic and indisputably comical\, Caroline Savoie repertoire guides us through her tales of triumphant love\, but also explores the intricacies of more painful relationships. Being yourself\, standing in your truth and making your own choices are all part of her journey\, and the young Acadian knows how to navigate both calm waters and the worst storms. With stage experience that spans hundreds of shows across the U.S.\, Europe and her Acadian roots\, Caroline Savoie leaves an indelible mark with her nuanced voice and profound lyrics that resonate long after the show. \n*Performance in French.
