The highly anticipated third film in the franchise, Enola Holmes 3, has held its No. 1 spot in Netflix’s “Global Top 10 Movies” since its release on July 1.
Within the two weeks the film’s been out, it’s gained 12 million views, so we’ll have to see if it can hold down the fort for another!
This installment follows detective Enola Holmes and Lord Tewkesbury as they prepare for their Malta wedding, a plan that goes completely sideways when Sherlock disappears and Enola has to take the case.
Sounds like Enola becomes “much more defined” in this film, but she’s continuing to evolve, says Millie Bobby Brown. The character explores themes of independence, love, ambition and vulnerability, and how to balance them all.
Just like the last two movies, Enola Holmes is played by Millie Bobby Brown and Lord Tewkesbury by Louis Partridge. Some other familiar faces returning to the screen include Sherlock (Henry Cavill), Watson (Himesh Patel), Eudoria (Helena Bonham Carter), and Moriarty (Sharon Duncan-Brewster).
Interestingly, Enola Holmes 3 is based on a true story. Well sorta.
The story pertaining to Malta is true! During the 1800s, Malta was a British colony and served as a major naval base, known as Britain’s “gateway to the rest of the world,” according to writer Jack Thorne. To stay close to the truth, Thorne worked alongside researchers and historians throughout production.
So, if you have Netflix at home, make sure to check out this new trending film!
