NB Power is teaming up with a housing developer in Riverview for a 5-year energy storage pilot project which combines smart technology and innovative energy efficiency.
Dobson Landing will be a first-of-its-kind community in Atlantic Canada with 260 units composed of family homes, condos, apartments and retail spaces.
NB Power says all homes will use 50 percent less energy than typical homes and each one will be set up with accessories that homeowners can control with smart phones and tablets.
The homes will also be solar-ready with homeowners able to lease solar panels and equipment from NB Power and the utility will install a smart home charge battery for free.
