Energy East Faces More Opposition

The proposed Energy East pipeline now facing opposition from the the Wolastoq Grand Council.

Chief Ron Tremblay says the First Nations across the country are unanimous in believing the pipeline would be too much of a risk to the environment and even the strongest regulations can’t prevent a spill from occurring.

Trans Canada has changed the proposed route but Chief Tremblay says that won’t change their minds.

The Grand Council claims Indigenous title over the lands and waters of the entire St. John River watershed between the St. Lawrence River and the Bay of Fundy.

Premier Brian Gallant, meantime, appearing on a popular french language public affairs program in Quebec to make the case for Energy East and blunt the opposition voiced recently by mayors in the Montreal area.
