Eighth COVID-19 Death In N.B.; 8 New Cases

The chief medical officer of health has announced an eighth death from COVID-19 in New Brunswick since the pandemic began.

Dr. Jennifer Russell says the individual was in their 60s in Zone 4 (Edmundston region).

An outbreak has been declared at the Edmundston Regional Hospital with seven staff members testing positive for the virus and 24 other staff are now in self-isolation.

The Edmundston region (Zone 4) will be moving to the Orange level of pandemic recovery at 12:01 a.m. Saturday.

Public Health is reporting 8 new confirmed cases today (December 11):

Six cases in Zone 4

One case in Zone 3

One case in Zone 6

These cases are said to be self-isolating.

New Brunswick now has 78 active cases of COVID-19.
