Eight Liberals Resign In Moncton Centre Riding

A shakeup in the Moncton Centre Liberal Riding Association with eight resignations on the board of directors this week including the president.

Audrey Lampert says it was a difficult decision to quit as president but she felt betrayed by the Liberal Party and was upset over how Premier Brian Gallant handled the allegations of harassment against Chris Collins.

Lampert says the local riding was blindsided since it had no warning and found out about the allegations when the media did.

Over the last couple of years, she adds the Liberal Party has also disrepected the local association by giving directives and not consulting them on matters.

She noted a recent example when the party didn’t consult them when scheduling a nomination meeting.

Despite quitting the board, Lampert adds she will continue to be a member of the Liberal Party.
